Crossing the road…

What I am about to pen down might not be entirely correct…

Let us consider the crossing of a road similar to the life we live, the other side of the road is where we want to be with vehicles being the obstacles that lie in our path to the other side.

Imagine two scenarios

1)      Crossing one of the busiest roads

2)      Helping an old woman/blind man cross the road

[Let us assume that vehicles are coming from both the directions and there is no subway]

If we take the first scenario, say we just run to other side, it’s sure we will be hit by a vehicle!!! What next? A trip to a hospital or death…So we must see to it that we look in both the directions and make sure that no vehicles (obstacles) are coming towards us, also we must time the move to other side such that we will reach the other side in minimal time (we can see the obstacles coming towards us in life, time everything perfectly so that we will reach our goal at the right time). The obstacle might be a two wheeler or a drunken truck driver, the severity of the hit differs with the impact of the collision and so is the real life scenario, Solve it with full attention. Take action to solve the problems you face today, otherwise it may trouble you in the future.

Time your crossing to perfection to reach the other side, people around you will surely realize you are going to make it to other side. They may follow you so that they can reach the other side too, but if there is another road to cross don’t expect them to help you. In life you are on your own and if someone wants to help you then you can take it, but don’t expect them to help you cross the road just because you had helped them once.

Tackle your obstacles and attain what you want in life. Just because the traffic rate is huge if you stay on one side you will remain where you are. Once you are in this world make sure you leave a small dot of your success in a big sheet called world!!! Cross the road and achieve your goal.

Now let’s talk about the second scenario. I took this scenario just to see how others respond on something while you help someone. One guy will say you are just showing off as there are girls/boys nearby, some will be jealous and may pass a comment on you. On the other hand some will say it was nice of you to help the people in need. In life when one tries to attain success, there will be many who would see you as a rival or would get jealous of you. Some might even try to demean you. The Idea is to do what you want to or achieve what you want to while ignoring these kinds of people. There will be many who would want to be friends with you or appreciate you, acknowledge them but also make sure you don’t get too close with them. Who knows whether they might even be there when you fall? The ones who knew or have been with you for a long time are the only ones you can be sure of; rest, the time will decide.

What I want to say is when you move ahead in life there will be two kinds of people; one who will appreciate you for what you do and another who will find flaws in what you do, remember one thing though- to cross the road no matter what others say or think of you!!!!

Even while we cross a road we must make sure that we cross it as quickly as possible, you cannot take a whole day, can you? Similarly in life the decisions should be made as swiftly as possible and in the safest way possible.

In the beginning I had said no subways. It’s because they are like shortcuts, they may be good or bad. Theft, robbery or maybe an opportunity that you might have never imagined that can take you to heights. The difference is in subway you are sure you will be reaching the other side or maybe not if there is a sudden earthquake or the structure collapses due to bad or corrupt work!! Similarly the robbery could go well or the opportunity can lead to success but who knows where it will take us, it’s possible it will make way for another road to cross! We have seen many who got instant success crumble down the road..Success will always be sweeter to a person who knows what struggle is.

So all I have to say is, every small thing in life we do can become an important part of our life… To cross a road is a small part indeed, but we still can learn a lot from it!!

People, hope you cross the road in safest and quickest way possible…. Good luck

  1. Great article! And very well written 🙂
I agree with you, that we should remember one thing: “to cross the road no matter what others say or think of you”.
    Have a good day 🙂

  4. First Hello Aneesh~ I came via Sabrina’s Reblog of your post .. A very good Post!.. 🙂 I am smiling as today as I did my job at work today supporting people to live normal lives in the community who need helping back on their feet..
While stood at the Bus stop with the person I support today.. An old lady who we often see as we catch this same bus each week came from her home to cross the road..
The lady I support shouted for her to stop as a car was coming, but up hill.. She speaks back and says its ok.. I know he will slow down to let me cross the road.. they always do!..

The driver did slow down and acknowledged her raised walking stick in thanks with a smile as he speeded back up..

One has to TRUST too. in taking those first steps out to cross to the other side of the road.. For some stay on their side and while they may miss a little aventure and ‘Car dogging’ they also miss out on seeing what the other side of town looks like.. We need to have Faith, like this little old lady.. And just put one foot in front of the other as we take that first step in what ever direction we tread..

Lovely Post and beautiful Blog.. Peace ~Sue Dreamwalker
